Paris: Pet Paradise, Doggy Delight

Anyone who visits Paris—and anywhere in France for that matter—will immediately notice that the Parisians are crazy about their dogs. Dogs of all shapes and sizes are seen everywhere—on leashes, in baskets, in carry bags, on bicycles, and even, on occasion, in baby strollers. Most restaurants and cafes welcome your furry friend, and will provide a water dish. So, on our last visit to Paris it didn’t really surprise us when we found the BHV (Bazaar de Hotel de Ville) pet store and saw what it offered. BHV is a large, famous department store next to the Hotel de Ville, but the pet section is off on a side street nearby.

Our first clue was the large plastic, colored dog and cat at the entrance. We wandered in, and marveled at all the offerings. I am not personally a dog owner, so in a way it’s hard to imagine buying these items for an animal, but obviously people do!

A stylish pet indeed!

I wonder if dogs actually like those outfits… maybe they don’t care.
