Graffiti…..or not?

Paris is full of wonderful art and outdoor sculptures. It is also well-known for graffiti—some “graffiti art”, some just random scrawls on walls or the sides of trucks, or anywhere actually.

It’s a lot of fun to look at these colorful “pictures” or “writings” and to compare them. In the end, we are not totally sure just what is and isn’t graffiti.

On our last visit we came across this one, near the Pompidou Centre. “This is not Graffiti”, it informs us.

Just around the corner, on the wall opposite the Stravinsky Fountains, is this mural—-half is definitely a mural, but the other half?

And this last one is, I’d say, a good example of graffiti that’s not really a mural.
